Let's talk about it

  1. So I have a question or comme t...not sure how this is gonna go. I have a 16yr old son who has Aspergers Syndrome. He is very high functioning and can do a lot of things by himself...for the most part. His struggles r mostly emotional and social. What I have noticed recently as I over hear him talking on the phone to friends or people on the playstation game chat is he listens to what they r feeling ir talkng about and the n tops it. For example I heard a friend of his saying how they r being treated bad at home and they wished they could runaway or find a way to get out of their house...im sure teenage stuff but my son took it a level beyond that...I abput fell to the floor when I heard him say that he understood what that person was going thru amd that just today he attempted suicide and cut his wrists. Now I know for fact this is untrue. For fact I know this so im confused as to why he would say that. I understand him not knowing or understanding his emotions or how to deal with them. I just dont know how to address this. I confronted him and hes confused by what he said and what it means and he thought he was helping this person by saying what he was saying he doesn't understand. He thought by making the other person feel bad for him it would help that person not feel as bad for themselves. This is the part of autism I just dont get. Im so emotionally drained and confused. Autism sucks
